|
|
Hey All -
I'm a tri-enthusiast (tri-"athlete" would be giving myself too much credit) new to the Hampton area from Atlanta. I'm looking to do some riding and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to routes or group rides around the area. I was just going to make some up, but I was hoping some people already had some regular rides established. Thanks guys!

Where are you at and what kind of pace are you aiming for? There's a pretty big spread in the club since we're all at different levels.
All the local bike shops have a weekend ride, usually on Saturday, that's open to whever shows up. They're mostly road riders and can move along pretty quick (for me anyway).
There some local bike clubs as well that put on Crits and TTs and such that have group rides. JRVS comes to mind.
The club has a ride as well, normally on Saturday mornings out of the Williamsburg Bike Beat store.
I ride Sunday mornings, usually out of Yorktown for 30-50 miles, mostly on the Colonial Parkway. The aggregate surface isn't as nice as asphalt, but I like the low traffic and wide lanes. I hope to get up to Williamsburg at least once a month to do the new Patriot Half route. (Which, btw, if I have it down right is quite nice. Better than last year. No rail road tracks, no route 60, and it seemed even flatter.) |

Dave,
I live in Williamsburg and would love to join you for the Patriot bike route ride one weekend. I usually ride alone which is fine for shorter (30 miles or less) rides but it gets hard being alone on the long one. Drop me an email or PM next time you think you might head up this way and maybe I can join you!?!?
I agree that parkway is a beautiful ride, but the aggregate beats me to death!! I did ride it on my Cross bike the other day and fatter CX tires were a dream to ride on, so that will be my "parkway" bike of choice for now on

| I am in Williamsburg as well and I sure could use some company on the long rides. What pace are you normally riding? |
